Planeta Azul - Blue Planet

Group exhibition
Museu de Portimão
Lagos, Portugal
VII - IX 2025

On Saturday, July 5th at 5:00 pm the Portimão Museum inaugurated the exhibition “Blue Planet” by the Algarve Artists Network (AAN).

On view until September 28, the exhibition features a collection of paintings and sculptures that celebrate the beauty of life and nature on Earth, while drawing attention to the environment’s increasing fragility. The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the natural richness that has long defined the Algarve. At the same time, it seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving one of our most vital natural resources: water.

With countless shades of blue—from translucent aquamarine to deep indigo—the artworks evoke water in all its forms. As AAN notes, “water reflects life like a shining mirror—whether in the devastation of wildfires or in the pure white stillness of icebergs.”

In a region like the Algarve, with its deep ties to the sea, the exhibition reflects the diverse perspectives of 13 AAN artists and delivers a clear message about the urgency of preserving water resources, eliminating pollution sources, and valuing oceans, rivers, and lakes. That’s why the paintings and sculptures serve as reminders to visitors that everyone’s daily choices truly matter.

The AAN collective includes Beata Palach, Birte Proettel, BJ Boutler, Brigitte von Humboldt, Claire Lloyd Bown, João Pinto, Jutta Mertens-Kammler, Kerstin Wagner, Lotti Klink, Rosa Pereira, Silvia Cavelti, Thea Booijink, and Vera Christians.

At the exhibition Beata showcased two diptych – paintings: All day Seascape and Dunas.
