What began as an artistic idea inspired by connection during the COVID-19 pandemic grew into a collaborative artwork created by around 150 people of different ages, backgrounds and artistic experience.

The inspiration came from something many of us remember well: the mosaic of faces on video calls during lockdown. While we were physically separated, we searched for new ways to create together. I wanted to transform that experience into a real, tangible work of art – one that celebrated community, creativity and human connection.

The project invited everyone to participate: professional artists, beginners, children, adults and seniors. Each participant painted a 25 × 25 cm canvas that became part of a constantly evolving polyptych. There were no stylistic restrictions or hierarchy. Every contribution was equally important, proving that individual creativity can become something far greater when combined with the work of others.

One of the most unusual aspects of the project was that the artists remained anonymous. Every canvas was signed only on the back, encouraging visitors to focus on the artwork itself rather than the reputation or experience of its creator. The final composition was also designed to remain flexible, allowing the paintings to be rearranged while still forming a harmonious whole.

Throughout the project, the Polyptych travelled to different exhibition spaces, reaching new audiences and continuing to evolve. It was exhibited at Galerii 2okna, Co W Trawie Piszczy, and Galeria Atelier2. The final exhibition in Dwór Tomaszowice  the completion of this extraordinary journey.

Looking back, I realise that the greatest achievement was not only the artwork itself but the people I met along the way. The scale of the finished piece exceeded my expectations, yet what I value most are the friendships, kindness and generosity that made the project possible. I am deeply grateful to every participant, volunteer, partner, institution and friend who supported the project with their time, talent and enthusiasm.

Multipars Pictura grew from my earlier Gravity series, created between 2015 and 2017, in which individual paintings could be endlessly rearranged to create new compositions. This project expanded that concept beyond my own practice, inviting hundreds of hands to shape one shared artwork.

Although the project officially concluded in 2022, I see it not as an ending but as the beginning of many future collaborations. It reminded me that art has the power to bring people together, encourage dialogue, and create lasting connections. I hope our artistic adventure will continue and inspire many more creative journeys in the years to come.
